We transform industrial heritage and neglected sites into productive, net-zero food ecosystems — growing food, jobs, skills, and community resilience where they are needed most.

Take Root Bio also acts as the group’s applied research and innovation organisation, working in the public interest to design, test, and validate regenerative food and environmental systems for the long-term benefit of communities and society. This includes piloting new approaches, generating real-world evidence, and de-risking innovation before it is scaled commercially.

Our Connected Farm systems are informed by closed-loop biosphere and life-support principles, originally developed for extreme and isolated environments. By adapting these space-inspired principles for Earth, we create resilient, efficient food ecosystems that perform reliably in dense cities, degraded buildings, and climate-stressed locations.

Our approach integrates food, energy, water, and data into a single AgriFood Ecosystem, using commercially viable technologies. By co-locating food production with digital infrastructure, we recover waste heat, reduce emissions, and enable year-round local food production.

We design place-based solutions aligned with 15-minute city principles, net-zero goals, and long-term community wellbeing, working across architecture, economics, finance, project delivery, and environmental technology.

Take Root Bio Technologies is our sister organisation and commercialisation partner, responsible for scaling and deploying the technologies proven through our regeneration and innovation programmes.
