Jonathan O'Connell

Jonathan O'Connell is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in drug discovery and early development within the pharmaceutical industry. Holding significant leadership roles, O'Connell was Vice President and Head of Early Discovery at FORMA Therapeutics, managing the portfolio from target selection to hit delivery. Additionally, O'Connell served as Senior Director of Biomolecular Screening at FORMA, and previously contributed to GlaxoSmithKline's High Throughput Screening Group. At Valo Health, O'Connell held the position of Vice President of Early Discovery & Technology, focusing on integrating AI and ML within preclinical drug discovery. Further experience includes a Directorship at Bristol-Myers Squibb overseeing multiple lead discovery teams, as well as a current role at Takeda as Head of Drug Discovery Automation and Transformation, aiming to innovate laboratory processes. O'Connell's academic background includes a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from The University of Manchester and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Glasgow.
