Simone Jacobs, LCSW-C, LICSW, founded this practice after years working with trauma survivors, first on the Sex Abuse Treatment team at Montgomery County Child Welfare Services, then onThe Center for Posttraumatic Disorders Program in DC. A graduate of King's College London and Smith College, she built Takoma Therapy as a Black-owned, women-led group practice with 25+ licensed therapists who genuinely care about the people who walk through our doors and log onto our screens.
We work with adults, adolescents, children, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Our therapists bring psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused CBT, cognitive processing therapy, narrative therapy, somatic work, and yoga therapy. We also run group programs including our Couple's Connection Group, Transforming Trauma Group, and Children's Social-Emotional Regulation Group.
Finding the right therapist is not a small thing. Our 3-session assessment process gives you and your therapist space to figure out if it is a good fit before committing to ongoing care.
We accept CareFirst/BlueCross BlueShield and Cigna, with out-of-network superbills available.
