Dirk Smith is the current advisor at Talus Bio. Dirk has also worked with Aspect Biosystems, Aeon Respire, Inflammation Research Association, University of Washington, Insight BioConsulting, and Amgen. Dirk Smith was the Scientific Director at Amgen from March 2013 to August 2015. In this position, they led a global research team for two immunology programs in the clinical pipeline, including AMG 282, a first in class IL-33 pathway inhibitor. Dirk Smith has also provided vision and managed cross-functional teams to champion sophisticated biomarker technologies and advance a patient stratification strategy. Furthermore, they have directed collaborations between the immunology group and deCODE Genetics, an Iceland-based human genetics organization. Dirk Smith regularly provides critical evaluation of licensing opportunities, reviews for scientific journals and serves on advisory boards.

Dirk Smith's educational career began with a BS in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from Washington State University. Dirk then went on to earn an MS in Genetics from the University of New Hampshire.
