Ryan Mongan

Ryan Mongan has had a long and successful career in product design and engineering. Ryan began their career in 1990 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Cholestech Corporation. In 1993, they moved to IDEO Product Development as a Product Designer, where they stayed until 2005. During this time, they also founded OPENtalent, Made Products, and Bantum, all of which were successfully exited by 2007, 2008, and 2014 respectively. Ryan then founded DutySmith in 2013, which they successfully exited to Phalanx Defense Systems in 2015. In 2012, they became a Partner at Dastmalchi, and in 2015 they founded TAO Clean, where they currently serve as Founder and Chairman. Finally, they founded Speck Design in 1996, which they successfully exited to management in 2011 and subsequently acquired by FutureBrands Worldwide in 2016.

Ryan Mongan began their educational journey in 1984, when they attended the University of California, Berkeley. Ryan graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering. Afterward, they attended Stanford University and earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Design in 1989. In 2011, they attended The Wharton School, but did not receive a degree.
