Dan Potter

Chief Technology Officer at Tascent

Dan Potter has extensive work experience in the fields of technology and astronomy. Dan began their career in 1995 as a Winter Over Support Scientist for the AMANDA Neutrino Telescope. In 1997, they joined the University of Hawaii at Manoa as a Graduate Research Assistant, Adaptive Optics Group. During this time, they built a specialized high contrast imaging polarimeter to detect dust around young stars and spent over 200 nights observing on Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. In 2003, they were hired as an Assistant Astronomer at Steward Observatory, U. of Arizona. Dan then moved to AOptix Technologies in 2007 as a Senior Scientist. In 2010, they were hired as a Principal Scientist at Scitor Corporation. In 2014, they joined Find Consulting as a Senior Consultant, and in 2015 they were hired as a Senior Technologist at Apple. Finally, in 2018, they joined Tascent as the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Research and Development.

Dan Potter received their BA in Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder between 1990 and 1994. Dan then went on to pursue a MS in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which they completed between 1997 and 1999. Dan then continued their studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and obtained their PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics in 2003.
