Steve Smith

Steve Smith has been working in the finance and accounting industry since 1997. Steve began their career as a CPA for James R. Farmer, CPA. In 2000, they joined Koonce, Wooten & Haywood, LLP as a CPA, where they were the lead auditor for construction, manufacturing, retail and tax exempt clients. In 2005, they became the Controller for American Human Services, Inc. and five related party entities, where they managed daily cash management for six entities and oversaw accounting staff serving over 200 customers. In 2010, they took on various short-term projects, including liquidation services and successful application for tax exempt status for a charitable organization. In 2011, they became the Accounting Manager for iContact, where they were responsible for preparing Board of Directors' financial statements, preparation and analysis of key metrics, and implementation of internal controls. In 2012, they became the Director of Finance and Controller for ReverbNation, where they prepared financial statements and built and maintained financial models. In 2017, they became the VP of Finance for Automated Insights, where they advised the CEO and Board of Directors and was responsible for contract design, review, and negotiation with Fortune 500 clients. In 2019, they joined Tryon Solutions as the Chief Financial Officer, where they advised the CEO and Board of Directors and designed and implemented a 5-year growth strategy with executive team leaders. In 2021, they became the Chief Financial Officer for Tatango, where they advised the CEO and Board of Directors and designed and implemented a 5-year growth strategy with executive team leaders, as well as providing legal, tax, and human resources oversight.

Steve Smith obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, and Business and Economics from Concord University between 1995 and 1997. Steve also holds a Certified Public Accountant certification from the NC State Board of CPA Examiners.
