Sean Chon

Sean Chon has over 17 years of work experience. Sean started their career in 2003 as an Entrepreneur/Owner at Bay Surveillance, where they started a PC-based video security business that served Bay Area businesses and residential complexes and grew sales to over $200,000 annually. In 2008, they moved to Comcast as a Systems Engineer, where they administered Linux servers, monitoring systems, proprietary cable systems such as Video on Demand, and systems developed internally for Comcast’s interactive-TV services. Sean also developed internal apps in Ruby on Rails and PHP to manage servers and equipment inventory. In 2014, they became an MBA Advisor at Centro Community Partners, where they developed clear business strategies and a business model that allowed an entrepreneur to leave their side job, hire two employees, and grow their business. Sean also created a scheduling-optimization tool and forecasting tool in Excel using linear algebra and Solver to simplify business decisions. In 2015, they worked as a Software Engineer at both Gracenote and TechSoup Global, where they built web tools powered by Python, Django, and Jenkins that monitored the health of production systems and owned the design and execution of a pilot program of 4Bells with San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Teams (SF NERTS), respectively. In 2017, they joined TerraVerde Energy as a Lead Backend Engineer and Software Engineer, where they helped clients reduce energy use and costs by planning, designing and implementing energy conservation measures, solar energy systems, and energy storage solutions. Finally, in 2020, they joined Tatari as a Senior Software Engineer.

Sean Chon attended San Francisco State University from 2012 to 2014, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a concentration in Sustainable Business. Sean also attended the University of California, Davis from 1999 to 2004, where they obtained a BS in Computer Engineering.
