Stephen Price has a long history of experience in the IT field. Stephen began their career in 2000 as a Systems Administrator at the University of Oregon's Social Sciences Instructional Labs, where they restored email and web services after a server crash and administered a Windows 2000 network of 300+ users. In 2001, they moved on to The Duck Store as a Systems Administrator, where they upgraded a 30-machine Windows 98-based network to a centrally-administered 100-machine Windows XP-based, Active Directory-controlled network and built and managed clustered web servers. In 2009, they began working at Monsoon Commerce as a Systems Administrator, where they designed, authored, and administered Puppet environment with over 100 nodes, wrote escalation phone tree scripts to interact with PagerDuty services, and developed deploy methods and Puppet configuration of Amazon AWS services. In 2014, they moved on to HealthSparq as a DevOps Engineer, where they automated and administered public and private clouds with complex environments and developed and maintained Ansible playbooks to automate deployments. In 2017, they began working at Janrain, Inc. as a Lead DevOps Engineer, where they led the transition from Ansible playbooks and Python scripts to Terraform configurations for all accounts and environments, designed, deployed, and maintained Prometheus clusters to monitor health of applications and infrastructure, and was responsible for deploying and running Pritunl (OpenVPN) VPN for remote access to AWS environments. In 2018, they joined RadarFirst as a Senior DevOps Engineer, where they migrated CloudFormation templates to Terraform configurations to maintain existing environments and quickly deploy test environments in AWS, separated AWS resources into separate member accounts of AWS Organization management account, and centralized reporting for AWS Security Hub and Inspector to simplify security audits. Most recently, in 2021, they began working at Tatari as a Site Reliability Engineer, where they rebuilt CI infrastructure with GitHub Actions, maintained and upgraded Kubernetes clusters running in AWS EKS, and improved on-call monitoring, notifications, and documentation to reduce toil and after-hours pages.
Stephen Price obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science from the University of Oregon between 1998 and 2003. Stephen has also obtained four certifications: Certified Kubernetes Administrator from The Linux Foundation in November 2022, Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in March 2019, Red Hat Certified Engineer from Red Hat in March 2014, and Red Hat Certified System Administrator from Red Hat, Inc. in June 2013.
