Michael Shirilla

Michael Shirilla, PT, DPT, SCS, PES, is a Board Certified Sports Specialist who brings years of high level sports medicine experience and expertise to the Physical Therapy staff. He played collegiate soccer at Wittenberg University and then went on to graduate from Hope College with a BA in Biology in 2003. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Central Michigan University in 2006. He served as the Lead Physical Therapist for Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago for 2 years and as a team Physical Therapist for 7 years for professional soccer teams in the MLS, NASL and WPL. He currently is a part of the medical staff at the University of St. Thomas and travels as a part of the medical staff with US Soccer National teams.

Through these experiences and being an athlete himself, Mike has a great understanding of the needs and mindset of treating athletes and getting them back to their desired sport or discipline and values the importance of working together with the entire medical staff to give the highest level of care possible. His treatment method utilizes a variety of manual techniques, corrective exercises and dry needling techniques to achieve the optimal outcomes for his patients. He has a personal interest in treating all sports medicine injuries with a specific focus on soccer rehabilitation and injury prevention.

In his free time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, nieces and friends. Being that he grew up in Northern Michigan (Petoskey), he enjoys being active in all four seasons through road biking, camping, fishing, hiking, nordic skiing. Mike also likes to travel, take in live music and sports, and explore the Minneapolis St. Paul area.

Mike provides PT services solely at Training HAUS – Viking Lakes.
