Michael Savoy

Michael Savoy has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Michael currently works at Teach Plus as the Vice President of Programs, where they lead the design and implementation of programs to support teacher leaders and advance teacher leadership as a catalyst for student success. Prior to this role, they served as the National Managing Director of Teacher Leadership Programs and the National Coaching Manager at Teach Plus. Michael also worked as a National C2 Coach and T3 Leadership Coach, providing training and support to teacher facilitators and school-based leadership support for teacher leaders.

Before joining Teach Plus, Michael worked at Pearson North America as a Math Specialist, where they focused on developing leadership capacity, facilitating professional development, and preparing educators for the implementation of school improvement and the Common Core State Standards. Michael also served as the Policy and Research Director at DC VOICE, where they built relationships with educators, parents, and community members to promote reforms in quality teaching and learning and facilitated policy change and implementation efforts.

Earlier in their career, Michael worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as an Aerospace Education Specialist and at Wor Wic Community College as a Mathematics Instructor. Michael started their teaching career at Wicomico County Board of Education as a Mathematics Teacher.

Michael Savoy has a strong educational background, starting with their high school education. Michael earned their high school diploma from Parkside High School from 1986 to 1990. Michael then pursued their passion for aerospace engineering and obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. Seeking further expertise, Michael continued their education at Salisbury University from 1996 to 1998, where they obtained a Master's degree in Mathematics Education. Finally, they attended Penn State University from 2001 to 2010, where they completed their PhD in Instructional Systems.
