Paul Cotter

Head of Food Bioscience Department

Paul Cotter is the Head of Food Biosciences and a Senior Principal Research Officer at Teagasc Food Research Centre in Fermoy, Ireland, and a Principal Investigator at both APC Microbiome Ireland and VistaMilk SFI Centres. With a PhD in Microbiology from University College Cork, they have authored over 450 peer-reviewed publications and have contributed significantly to the field of molecular microbiology, focusing on antimicrobial peptides and gut microbiology. Paul has also held various academic positions, including adjunct roles at University College Cork and Munster Technical University, and has received numerous awards including an honorary doctorate from the University of Antwerp. They are a co-founder and head of microbiology at SeqBiome Ltd, specializing in high-end microbiome analysis.
