Security Engineer at Team Cymru

Will Baxter has a diverse work experience in the field of security engineering and analysis. Will is currently working as a Security Engineer at Team Cymru since March 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Information Security Strategist, Engineer, & Analyst at Bowfly Solutions from June 2019 to March 2022. Will also served as the CIO, CTO, and CISO at Stand Together from April 2015 to June 2019.

Before joining Stand Together, Will worked at Koch Business Solutions (KBS) as an Enterprise Security Architect from 2013 to 2015 and as a Lead Security Analyst from 2011 to 2013. Will also gained experience as a Lead Network Security Analyst at the DoD Office of Inspector General from 2010 to 2011.

Prior to their roles in the private sector, Will worked at US-CERT as a Security Analyst and Senior Watch Officer from 2008 to 2010. Will also served as a Shift Lead Technical Security Intelligence Analyst at Olgoonik Development, LLC from 2006 to 2008, where they monitored IDS system activity and produced technical intelligence reviews.

In addition to their civilian career, Will served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Marine Security Guard at the American Embassy in Damascus, Syria from April 2004 to April 2005. Will also held the position of Marine Aerial Navigator on KC 130's from 2001 to 2003.

Will Baxter has a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Information Security and Assurance from Western Governors University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Information Technology at the University of Phoenix from 2005 to 2009. In addition to their formal education, Will has acquired several certifications. Will obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² in August 2021. In April 2020, they earned the USA Wrestling Bronze Coaching Certification and the USA Wrestling Copper Coaching Certification. Will also holds certifications such as the Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner (awarded in December 2018), Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (obtained in October 2014), GIAC Certified ISO-27000 Specialist (achieved in January 2014), Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator (C|HFI) (attained in October 2013), Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) (earned in May 2013), Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) (obtained in October 2012), Security+ (completed in December 2010), and GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA) (acquired in April 2010).
