Nigel Sheridan-Smith

Nigel Sheridan-Smith PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 2013, they served as the CTO and Entrepreneur at Kasify.com, a startup for Real Estate Property Managers and Strata Managers. From 2014 to 2018, they worked as a Ruby-on-Rails Developer and AWS Specialist at Soup Mail, a group email application. In 2015, they volunteered as a Lead Developer at Code the Future, mentoring junior developers and contributing to the development of their website. In 2016, they worked as a Senior Solutions Architect at ActivePipe, where they played a major role in re-engineering internal systems and key integration points. From 2017 to 2020, they worked at Link Group (LNK), first as a Senior Security Advisor and then as an Information Security Manager. Nigel then joined Allianz Australia as a DevSecOps Architect from 2020 to 2021. In 2021, they joined Faethm by Pearson as a Security Engineer, later becoming a Senior Security Engineer and eventually the Lead Security Engineer. Currently, they hold the position of CISO and DevSecOps Engineer at TeamForm, starting in 2023.

Nigel Sheridan-Smith obtained their PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney from 2002 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Engineering Dip Engineering Practice in Computer Systems at the same university from 1997 to 2002. Nigel also completed their Higher School Certificate (HSC) at Red Bend Catholic College from 1991 to 1996, with a focus on 4U Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, and General English. In terms of additional certifications, Nigel has obtained several, including being a Workforce Skills Hackathon Winner from Pearson in 2023, Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) from ISACA in 2021, Okta Certified Administrator and Okta Certified Professional from Okta in January 2020, and CISSP from ISC^2 in October 2008. Nigel also holds an ITIL v3 Foundation certification, although the institution and specific date of obtaining it are not provided.
