Michael Brilhante

Michael Brilhante, PhD, is currently a Product Manager for Genomics at Tecan since June 2021, having previously held the position of Associate Product Manager in the same field. From January 2017 to May 2021, Michael worked as a Scientific Researcher at the University of Bern, focusing on plasmid spread in gram-negative bacteria through next-generation sequencing (NGS) and supervising doctoral and master’s students. Michael's PhD research centered on antibiotic and virulence mechanisms in pathogenic bacteria, revealing that companion animals can be infected by high-risk clones of Enterobacteriaceae similar to those in humans. Additional experience includes roles at various institutions, such as Graduate Researcher at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Research Trainee at Hospital Ramón y Cajal. Michael holds a Mini MBA in Marketing and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Bern.
