Skip Breidbach

Skip Breidbach has extensive work experience in software engineering and development. Skip is currently working at Techcyte as a Senior Software Engineer. Prior to this, they worked at LightBox as a Senior Software Architect from 2015 to 2021, where they led two development teams and directed R&D for a new Data Lakehouse. Skip also developed a parallel processing data pipeline library using Python, Prefect, Dask, and Pandas.

Before LightBox, Skip worked at SRI International as a Senior Software Engineer from 2008 to 2015. There, they developed real-time image processing software and designed a build and dependency management system using Maven/CMake for C++. Skip then moved on to Symantec, where they held roles as Sr. Principal Software Engineer and Principal Software Engineer from 1999 to 2008. At Symantec, they integrated metadata search engines into multiple backup products and designed a secure and scalable search engine and retrieval portal.

Prior to Symantec, Skip worked at Seagate Software as a Senior Software Engineer, where they acted as the lead developer for a client-server desktop backup product. Skip also worked at ICON Consulting Group as a Senior Consultant, where they developed a customized customer response and document management system. Additionally, Skip worked at Digital Foundry as a Senior Software Engineer, developing interactive Windows CD-ROM titles and dynamic websites.

Skip's earlier work experience includes roles as a Software Engineer at ALH Group, San Luis Obispo, and ASK Computer Systems.

Skip Breidbach earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 1986 to 1992.
