Jeff Tang

Jeff Tang, JD, MBA, currently serves as Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Circle since November 2022. Prior to this role, Tang was Vice President of Intellectual Property at BlackRock from September 2017 to November 2022, where responsibilities included developing robust IP strategies, compliance initiatives, data protection, and leading the creation of the company’s first worldwide IP programs. Earlier experience includes serving as Associate Counsel for Corporate and Intellectual Property at ICAP, where Tang advised the executive team on legal matters, and as an Intellectual Property Attorney and Patent Attorney at IBM, focusing on technology licensing and IP due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. Tang began a career as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, earning two accelerated promotions. Education includes a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University, a Juris Doctor from New York Law School, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland.
