Carmel Rotschild is the Co-Founder and Scientific Director of LAVA, previously known as Luminescent, focused on transforming heat into zero-emission electricity. Currently an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, they also lead the Laboratory for Excitonics. Previously, Carmel co-founded Real View Imaging, a pioneering start-up in medical holography, and held various research positions, including at the MIT Research Laboratory of Electronics. They earned a Ph.D. in Optics from Technion and have research interests in nonlinear optics, nano-photonics, and thermodynamics of light, among others, receiving prestigious awards for their contributions to solar energy and photonics.
