John Engates

John Engates is an experienced technology executive currently serving as the Field Chief Technology Officer at Cloudflare since September 2021. In addition to this role, John has been a Member of the Board of Directors for James Avery Artisan Jewelry since April 2018 and serves as a Mentor and Investor with Techstars since June 2012, focusing on the TechStars Cloud program in San Antonio, TX. Previously, John held the position of Client Chief Technology Officer at NTT Global Networks Incorporated from July 2018 to February 2020, and served as a Board Member for the Open Compute Project Foundation from March 2017 to February 2018. With a significant tenure at Rackspace from August 2000 to February 2018, John held roles as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Operations. John co-founded Internet Direct, Inc., serving as General Manager from September 1995 to August 2000, and began a career in technology as a Systems Engineer at Sirius Computer Solutions. John holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from The University of Texas at San Antonio and attended The University of Texas at Austin.
