Tom Chan's work experience spans several industries and roles.

From 2020 to present, they have been a Portfolio Manager at Constellation Software Inc. In this role, they lead a portfolio of six business units in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields for the Fog Software Group. Constellation Software Inc. specializes in acquiring, managing, and building vertical market software companies. Prior to this, from 2002 to 2020, Tom held various roles at Tecplot, Inc., a wholly-owned business of Constellation Software. Tom started as a Product Manager, where they tripled revenue in three years by branching and repositioning a single product into a high-end CFD visualization and analysis tool (Tecplot 360) and a general engineering plotting tool (Tecplot Focus). Tom then became the Director of Product Management, overseeing market requirements, branding, and go-to-market strategies for three major releases. After that, they served as the Vice President of Customer Development, and finally as the CEO. Tecplot is known as the leading developer of visual data analysis software for engineers and scientists.

Tom's work experience also includes a role as a High-Tech & Communications Consultant at Accenture from 2000 to 2002. In this role, they helped executives in the wireless and telecommunications industry address strategic questions about revenue recognition and billing strategy for clients like VoiceStream Wireless, T-Mobile, and Qwest Communications.

Before that, from 1995 to 2000, Tom was the Director of Sales at Amtec Engineering, Inc., and from 1992 to 1995, they worked as a Process Engineer at Battelle, where they developed and tested numerical process models for environmental remediation alternatives and supported the research and advancement of the 4X High-Temperature Melter project for the Hanford Waste Vitrification Plant.

Overall, Tom has a diverse background in portfolio management, product management, sales, and engineering, with a strong focus on the software and high-tech industries.

Tom Chan attended the University of Washington from 1987 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Tom then pursued further education at the Albers School of Business, Seattle University from 1996 to 2000 and earned an MBA with a focus on Information Technology.
