TED Senior Fellow

James Patten is an accomplished interaction design expert with extensive experience in the tech and creative industries. As a TED Senior Fellow since 2014, James has been recognized for outstanding innovation at TED Conferences. James founded Patten Studio in June 2006, which has a notable history of creating engaging artworks and experiences for diverse clients, including global luxury brands, tech companies, and cultural institutions. Prior to these roles, James served as a TED Fellow from 2011 to 2013 and worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the MIT Media Lab while earning a Ph.D. in Media Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. James also holds a Master's degree in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT and a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Virginia.
