Jay Klaphake

Jay Klaphake, J.D., currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, where responsibilities include teaching courses such as Applied Business Administration: Law and Business for eSports Management, Law in the Digital Age, and Global Negotiation. Additionally, Jay holds the position of Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Global Studies and serves as a Deputy Chair at TED Conferences while also participating as a board member at Kyoto International School. Notably, Jay founded TEDxKyoto, Japan’s largest independently organized TED event, and has held roles including Chief of Staff at ICMG Group and Lead Organizer for Unreasonable Kyoto. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctor degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication and Political Science from Macalester College.
