Michael Patterson has a diverse work experience. Michael started their career as a Summer Intern at Auburn University, where they assisted in the development and testing of farm management practices. Michael then served in the United States Air Force as a Mission Support Flight Supervisor and later as a Load Planning Supervisor in the US Air Force Reserve. After their military service, they returned to Auburn University and worked as the VA Coordinator and Student Employee, supporting the veteran community through various initiatives and programs. Following their time at Auburn University, Michael joined TekFive as a Network Engineer II. Additionally, they also worked for Auburn University as a Veteran Programs & Services Specialist and a School Certifying Official. Throughout their career, Michael has gained experience in leadership, program development, and cross-campus collaborations.

Michael Patterson holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Economics from Auburn University, which they obtained between 2016 and 2019. Prior to that, they earned an Associate's degree in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management from the Community College of the Air Force, where they studied from 2008 to 2014. In addition to their education, Michael has obtained various certifications, including Joint Inspection in 2013 from the United States Air Force and CompTIA Network+ in 2023 from CompTIA. Michael also holds certifications as a Hazardous Material Inspector and a Night Vision Goggles Instructor from the United States Air Force, although the dates of obtaining these certifications are unknown.
