William Harrold

Systems Engineering Director at Telensa

William Harrold has a diverse and extensive work experience in the telecommunications industry. William started their career at STL Harlow as a Senior Research Engineer in 1988. William then moved to T-Mobil UK (then called Unitel) as a Senior Research Engineer in 1990. From 1992 to 1998, they worked as a Consultant at TTP/TTPCom.

In 1998, they joined TTPCom as a Group Manager for DSP and Algorithms, where they formed a sub-group focused on multimedia and audio. William successfully delivered physical layer IP for GSM Core. In 2003, they were promoted to Development Director at TTPCom's Silicon Business Unit, where they drove improvements in project management culture and organization. William also established a strong relationship with a Taiwanese semiconductor customer, resulting in a £10M deal.

From 2007 to 2008, they worked as a Development Director at TTPCom/Motorola, leading the Motorola TTPCom Product Group and overseeing the sale of the division. William then joined Sunplus mMobile as the General Manager, setting up a research and development center in Cambridge for the Chinese market in just one month.

In 2009, William Harrold founded Apoideas, a wireless communications consultancy specializing in battery-powered wireless sensing designs. William won a research grant and built a team to develop low-energy cellular wireless sensing products. William'srecent consultancy assignments included working on European wireless technologies and wireless sensing system design for air pollution monitoring.

Since 2011, they have worked as a Consultant at Thing Connect Limited, providing their expertise in the field. In 2014, they joined Telensa as the Systems Engineering Director, where they currently hold the role.

William Harrold completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Sciences Tripos at the University of Cambridge, from 1982 to 1985. Subsequently, they pursued a PhD in Communications Theory at the same institution, which they completed between 1985 and 1988.
