Jim Yu has diverse work experience spanning various industries. Jim began their career as an Asset Management Intern at Westmont Hospitality Group in 2011 and 2012. Jim then worked as a Teaching Assistant at Cornell University from 2012 to 2013. Following this, they joined Westmont Hospitality Group again, taking on roles as a Financial Analyst, Associate Manager, and Manager in Transactions & Asset Management from 2013 to 2017. In 2013, they also began their involvement with the Canadian Forces - Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC), serving as a CIC Officer and later as a Civilian Volunteer until 2017. In 2018, they interned as an Investment Associate with Greystar. In 2019, they worked as a Consultant in Real Estate Financial Modeling at CBRE Global Investors. Jim joined Tellus in 2019, first as a Finance and Operations Intern and then as the VP of Finance & Operations from 2020 onwards. Additionally, they are currently a 2nd Lieutenant in the Canadian Forces, serving various roles within the 2824 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps.
Jim Yu completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Hotel Administration with a minor in Real Estate at Cornell University from 2009 to 2013. Jim then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business from 2017 to 2019. Simultaneously, they also enrolled in the Stanford University School of Earth, Energy, & Environmental Sciences from 2017 to 2020, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) in the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources, specializing in the Sustainable Built Environment Track.
