Carey Frey

Carey Frey is an experienced cybersecurity professional currently serving as Chief Security Officer at TELUS since May 2016, overseeing Corporate Security and TELUS Cyber Security Services with a team of over 500 security experts. Prior to this role, Carey held significant positions at the Communications Security Establishment from April 2011 to April 2016, including Director General of Cyber Defence, where responsibilities encompassed capability development, cyber incident response operations, and threat assessments. Carey also established a branch for Cyber Security Partnerships while implementing a risk management framework for telecommunications supply chain security and developed strategic relationships with the private sector and Shared Services Canada. Academic credentials include a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Public Administration from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Regina.
