Temple Bar is a cocktail lounge with a rich history. Originally founded in 1989 by George Schwarz and Kiki Kogelnik, four years after the late, iconic all-day restaurant NoHo Star, at the coveted corner of Lafayette & Bleecker Streets. Kogelnik, an artist, designed Temple Bar and gave it its cozy, Art Deco feel.

After an almost 3-decade long run, Temple Bar closed its doors on December 31, 2017.

Known as the first spot in NoHo/SoHo where one could get a proper cocktail, it only made sense for lifestyle-entrepreneur Maneesh K. Goyal to partner with Attaboy founders and legendary barmen Sam Ross & Michael McIlroy to re-open its doors. Temple Bar was resurrected and once again serving martinis and more as of October 2021.

Temple Bar currently offers an elevated cocktail program, with a highlight on martinis (paying homage to the extra-large martinis of the Temple Bar of yesteryear), classic popcorn and a selection of sumptuous bar snacks—including the oft-requested caviar bump.

We accept reservations two weeks in advance through Resy, and walk-ins on an availability basis. For groups of 7+, contact nyc@templebar.co to inquire regarding a booking.
