Hugh Luo

Hugh Luo is an accomplished professional in the field of nuclear engineering, currently serving as the Manager of Transient Safety Methods and Analysis at TerraPower since April 2021. In this role, Hugh has led the development of nuclear system safety software for Commercial Grade Dedication, ensuring compliance with EPRI guidelines and NRC regulatory requirements while also initiating a comprehensive overhaul of software quality assurance procedures. Prior to this, Hugh held positions as a Senior Engineer at Jensen Hughes, where the MAAPv5.05 code was developed, and as a System Engineer at GSE Systems, focusing on severe accident simulation. Early experiences include work as a Research Assistant at Oregon State University on the APEX test facility, an internship at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, and training as a Nuclear Power Plant Operator Trainee with China State Power Investment Corporation. Hugh holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Oregon State University, a master's degree from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and a bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
