Fred Reed

Co-founder & CCO at TerraStor

Fred Reed has a diverse and extensive work experience. Fred co-founded TerraStor in 2023, where they serve as the Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer. At TerraStor, they focus on developing grid-scale, long-duration energy storage systems using compressed air energy storage technology.

Prior to TerraStor, Fred worked at JLF II, LLC from 2009 to 2023, where they held the position of Owner and Chief Executive Officer. In this role, they were responsible for the technical and commercial aspects of acquiring, disposing, and optimizing global power generation assets. Fred led the technical diligence of acquisitions and played a key role in developing value propositions and exit strategies.

From 2006 to 2009, Fred worked at Fulcrum Power Services LP as EVP Generation. In this role, they led a team involved in various aspects of energy management services and electric generation project development. Fred identified acquisition targets and equity partners and led due diligence and negotiations for projects in various markets.

Before that, from 2003 to 2005, Fred served as President of JLF Energy, LLC, where they provided consulting services to companies interested in the acquisition, optimization, and disposition of electric generation projects. Fred'sclients ranged from smaller privately held firms to larger diversified corporations and investor-owned utilities.

Fred's career began at Cogentrix Energy, Inc. in 1989, where they held the position of Vice President. Fred was responsible for corporate and project finance, treasury, marketing, business development, and had a focus on Latin America and the USA.

Fred Reed has a diverse education history. Fred first attended Orange County Community College from 1977 to 1979, where they obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Engineering. Fred then pursued their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Georgia Institute of Technology, from 1979 to 1981. Later on, from 1981 to 1982, Fred attended the US Navy Nuclear Power School. Lastly, they enrolled at the University of Rochester - Simon Business School from 1985 to 1987, and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
