Tesa Medical is a Sports Orthopedic company based in San Francisco, CA developing a platform Enabling Technology for soft tissue repair and reconstruction surgery empowering surgeons to improve patient outcomes with data driven solutions.

Enabling technology has the potential to improve patient outcomes enhancing the capability and value of standard devices. Enabling Technology is the fastest growing segment in the orthopedic and spine industry and reported to be used in up to 70% of knee replacement surgery in leading markets around the world.

ACL and knee ligament surgery is challenging and nuanced, with an estimated 400,000 procedures performed annually in the USA alone. Despite the volume of research and advancements in surgical approach, graft choice and fixation devices, surgical techniques have remained manual requiring surgeons to reply on feel. As a result:
- >40% of patients will not return to their prior level of activity
- up to 30% of patients report instability post-surgery
- Approximately 10% of patients require revision surgery
- Females can have up to an 8x higher risk of revision surgery than males

Tesa's Smart Fixation platform combines a novel disposable tensioner, fixation devices and proprietary software solution enabling surgeons during soft tissue repair or reconstruction to:
- Set precise tunnel position before drilling
- Precisely tension the graft and / or suture augment independently
- Dynamically assess joint stability hands free prior to fixation
- Control fixation tension and joint angle via precise measurement

Tesa's Smart Fixation Platform will be delivered in stand-alone disposable tensioner or procedure kit solutions, combining fixation devices with the disposable tensioner, to align with surgeon, hospital, reimbursement and provider preferences.
