Andy Whillans has been working in the software engineering field since 2011. Andy began their career as a Web Developer at Dealer Tire, where they wrote front-end HTML and CSS, integrated dynamic data using AJAX and ColdFusion, and was responsible for client-side JavaScript user-interface. In 2012, they moved to UnitedHealth Group, where they helped build health exchanges from the ground up, using Ruby on Rails and Service Oriented Architecture. Andy then joined ATHN in 2014 as a Software Developer, where they maintained, extended, and helped spread knowledge of a very large and custom Rails codebase. In 2015, they became a Software Developer at CARDFREE, where they collaborated with multiple teams to develop a Rails admin app, and developed a robust multi-tenant RESTful API. In 2017, they took on the role of Bootcamp Instructor at Tech Talent South. In 2018, they became a DevOps Specialist at the Government of British Columbia. In 2019, they moved to AppColony as a Senior Software Engineer. Finally, in 2020, they joined Legalpad as a Senior Software Engineer, where they developed an application to simplify and improve the process of obtaining U.S. Visas.

Andy Whillans received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from John Carroll University in 2011. During their time there, they also took some liberal arts courses at Regent's American College in 2010, focusing on Philosophy, Political Science, and History.
