Simon Walker has a strong background in the textile industry, with a focus on technical yarns and fabrics. Simon started their career as a Sales Manager at Crepe Weavers Ltd, where they eventually became the Sales Manager. In this role, they were responsible for sales, production coordination/planning, and product development. During their time at Crepe Weavers, they played a key role in creating the C-Teq brand and developing the laminate and coating division. Simon then moved on to work at C-TEQ - IQ Textiles as a Sales & Product Development professional. Following this, Simon owned Sitex Protective Fabrics, a company specializing in flame-resistant fabrics for heat and flame protective clothing. Their fabric range included non-flammable fabrics used in various industrial sectors. In 2014, they joined Universal Carbon Fibres Ltd as a Technical Manager, where they worked for six years. The company was part of the Tex Tech Industries Group and focused on manufacturing technical yarns and fabrics for automotive friction, fuel cell, and thermal insulation markets. In 2018, Simon became the Managing Director at Tex Tech Industries.
Simon Walker attended Glastry High School from 1980 until 1986. After completing high school, they enrolled at Bangor Technical College from 1987 to 1989, where they studied ONC Business Studies. Following that, Simon attended the University of Ulster - Jordanstown from 1989 to 1991, earning a degree in Business Studies. Simon continued their education at the same university from 1991 to 1994, completing an Honours degree in Business Studies.
