John Ackerman

John Ackerman has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. John began their career in the US Marine Corps, where they served as a GySgt of Marines and was responsible for coordinating communication exercises and deployments. After leaving the military, John founded FutureRight Technologies, an IT consulting company, where they designed and implemented computer system solutions for clients.

Moving on, John joined Virtual Hold Technology, where they held multiple roles over a span of ten years. John started as an Integration/Support Engineer, coordinating the integration of Virtual Hold Software into customer phone switch and call center applications. Later, they served as a Quality Assurance Test Lead, managing a team of analysts and engineers and ensuring comprehensive testing of software. Lastly, they served as a Scrum Master, organizing and facilitating project planning, daily stand-up meetings, and backlog maintenance.

Following their tenure at Virtual Hold Technology, John joined Segmint as a Scrum Master/QA Manager, responsible for enhancing communication, removing blockers, and assisting the product owners and developers in backlog grooming and user story estimation.

Prior to their current position, John worked at Liberty HealthShare as the Director of IT Applications and Scrum Master, overseeing software development, quality assurance, business analysis, and agile coaching.

Currently, John is employed at Text-Em-All as an Agile Software Project Lead/Project Manager. In this role, they maximize the value delivered to customers by working closely with product owners to manage the backlog, identify conflicting priorities, and break down work to deliver learning and value.

John Ackerman completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from Strayer University, where they studied from 2000 to 2004. John later pursued a Master's degree in Information Systems with a concentration in Software Development Management from Staryer University Akron Ohio, completing their studies between 2010 and 2013. In addition to their formal education, John has obtained various certifications. These include the Certified Scum Master (CSM) certification from Scrum Alliance, obtained in January 2010, and the Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) certification, also from Scrum Alliance, obtained in April 2020. Furthermore, they have certifications in HIPPA Awareness for Business Associates and HIPPA Security, obtained from HIPPATraining in July 2018.
