Mickey Calderone has a diverse work history, starting with their role as an Administrative Assistant at Baker & McKenzie in 2007. Michelle "Mickey" then worked as a Correspondence Specialist at Homecomings Financial from 2005 to 2007. In 2004, they became an Executive Team Lead at Target, where they managed a team of 12 and supervised various departments.

In 2008, they became self-employed as a Head Writer before taking on the role of Fiction Editor at Sojourn: A Journal of the Arts from 2008 to 2010. Michelle "Mickey" later served as Editor-in-Chief at Reunion: The Dallas Review from 2010 to 2011 and then became Editor at Large from 2011 to 2012.

Currently, Mickey Calderone is working as an Adjunct English Instructor at Richland College since 2013. In this role, they teach composition to undergraduate students, creates syllabi and lesson plans, mentors students in writing essays and research papers, and grades assignments.
