Robert Collyer

Robert Collyer's work experience includes multiple roles at different companies.

At IP.com, they are currently working as a Senior Software Engineer, starting in May 2022.

Prior to that, they worked at Wolfram from 2012 to 2022. During their time there, they held various roles including Software Engineer and Quality Assurance Engineer. As a Software Engineer, they built a PDF importer, developed a Protobuf exporter, and improved file format heuristics. As a Quality Assurance Engineer, they maintained and enhanced automated tests, with a focus on visualization and machine learning functionality.

Before joining Wolfram, they worked at Louisiana State University from 2005 to 2012. Robert'sroles there included Research Assistant, Lead Teaching Assistant, and Teaching Assistant. As a Research Assistant, they developed a parallel c++ implementation, interfaced with the Wien2k density functional theoretic code, and managed a linux cluster. As a Lead Teaching Assistant, they supervised other TAs and ran TA meetings. As a Teaching Assistant, they instructed laboratories, graded assignments, and provided tutoring.

Robert also worked at Xerox from 2000 to 2004, where they held roles as Reliability and Software Engineer and Embedded Software Engineer in Test. As a Reliability and Software Engineer, they consolidated test tracking and scheduling, and developed a web portal. As an Embedded Software Engineer in Test, they tested embedded software on copier/printer devices, developed test procedures, and maintained software tools for testing metrics.

Robert Collyer earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics and Physics from SUNY Brockport between 1994 and 1999. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Physics from Louisiana State University, which they completed between 2004 and 2008. Prior to their master's degree, Robert Collyer attended the Rochester Institute of Technology from 2002 to 2003, although they did not earn a specific degree during that time. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained Triplebyte Certified recognition from Triplebyte in April 2022.
