Thanks.Dev connects companies with the Open Source projects they rely on.

We make it easier for them to financially support these projects. Companies can then augment their engineering teams efficiently in the process.

###So how does it work?
Everyone can now go to https://thanks.dev/home, log in with their GitHub or GitLab account and nominate how much they’d like to donate every month – could be as little as $5 or as much as $100k. By default, thanks.dev then collates the dependency tree across all the repositories in all the organizations you have access to and trickles your donation across that tree 3 levels deep up to 8 decimal places on the dollar. This default however, can be adjusted by the user. Everything is automated.

### Why makes me think that this a good approach?
thanks.dev attempts to solve away the “Who should I donate to and how much should I give them?” component of supporting open source. The biggest current side effect of this barrier is the unbalanced distribution of donations across the ecosystem with popular projects receiving the lion’s share of donations. The motivated minority primarily donate to the handful of projects that are front of mind. For example, Webpack receives close to $200k in funding per year via OpenCollective but its direct dependencies receive minuscule amounts of funding and there’s 80+ of them at last count.

##So how can you help?
It would be great if you could donate to your own dependency tree using thanks.dev and help spread the word.

Beyond that I would be forever grateful if you could shoot us your feedback whatever it may be or any insights that could help me execute faster.
