Les Tyler began their career in 1975 as the Chief Engineer at Pyramid Recording Studios. In 1977, they moved to dbx, Inc. where they held the roles of Vice President of Engineering, Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer and Project Engineer. In 1987, they joined Carillon Technology Inc. as the Vice President of Technology, with P&L responsibility for dbx's licensing program and its OEM products division. Finally, in 1989, Les Tyler co-founded THAT Corporation, where they served as President and concentrated on sales and marketing, while also wearing many hats.

Les Tyler attended Cornell University from 1970 to 1975, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
