Rob DeBuse has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Rob currently holds the position of Program Manager at ThayerMahan Inc. starting from November 2022. Prior to that, they served at Navy Expeditionary Combat Command as a member of the Commanders Action Group from December 2020 to July 2022.
Rob also had a long and distinguished career in the US Navy, starting as an EOD Officer in May 1992. Rob held this position until July 2022. During their time in the Navy, they served in various roles, including Executive Advisor at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) from September 2014 to September 2015, and Chief of Operations, Plans, and Exercises for Standing Joint Force HQ - Elimination at the United States Strategic Command from March 2014 to August 2014. Prior to their retirement from the Navy, Rob worked as an Associate at R3 Strategic Support Group, Inc. from September 2015 to November 2020, where they leveraged their expertise in Navy Expeditionary and Mine Warfare/MCM policy, doctrine, and training standards. Rob also identified potential business opportunities and supported capture efforts.
Additionally, Rob served as the Strategic Resource Manager and Chief of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Requirements Branch (N957) at the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) from August 2011 to August 2013. In this role, they managed a $2.1 billion annual appropriations portfolio.
Before their assignment at OPNAV, Rob was the Chief Executive Officer and Commanding Officer at Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit FIVE from April 2009 to July 2011. Rob commanded a 220-member combat unit and led various missions across multiple countries.
Furthermore, Rob demonstrated their crisis leadership skills as the Commander of the Crisis Leadership team at Combined Joint Task Force - PALADIN SOUTH/SOUTHWEST from March 2010 to October 2010. Rob successfully established and developed Afghan bomb disposal capabilities.
Rob DeBuse began their education in 1986 at Skyline High. From 1988 to 1989, they studied Chemistry at Boston University. Rob then attended the University of Colorado Boulder from 1989 to 1992, earning a BA degree in Chemistry. In 2007, Rob pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Colorado State University, which they successfully completed in 2009. In the same period, from 2008 to 2009, they also obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. Additionally, Rob DeBuse earned a certification as a THF Alum - Executive Level Military Transition Program in November 2022 from The Honor Foundation.
