Fiona Cameron

ABC Ombudsman

Fiona Cameron is an experienced media and communications professional currently serving as the ABC Ombudsman for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation since September 2022, a role aimed at enhancing fairness, objectivity, and transparency in complaint handling. Prior to this position, Fiona was an Authority Member at the Australian Communications and Media Authority from July 2018 to August 2022, where governance structures were updated to foster balanced decision-making in media regulation. Fiona also held various senior roles in the screen industry, including Chief Operating Officer at Screen Australia for a decade, where significant programs to support the screen sector were developed. Notable earlier positions include Director on the Australian Film Television and Radio School Board and General Manager for both DMG Radio Australia and the Australian Radio Network. Fiona has a solid background in political advisory roles, having served as Chief of Staff to the Federal Minister for Communications and the Arts and as a Senior Ministerial Advisor in Victoria. Fiona holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Queensland.
