Lachlan Abbott

City Reporter

Lachlan Abbott is an experienced City Reporter and Breaking News Reporter at The Age since March 2022, following a progression through roles including Trainee Reporter. Prior experience includes serving as Daily Briefings Editor at Isentia and a Policy Officer intern at the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, where focus was on maritime shipping decarbonisation. Lachlan participated in the Australia Indonesia Youth Exchange Program as a delegate and was a Researcher for the Victorian Parliamentary Internship Program, producing a report for Frank McGuire MP. Additional experience includes journalism roles at the Australian Institute of International Affairs and YMCA Victoria, as well as writing over 40 articles on sport for Zero Digital Media. Lachlan holds a Bachelor of Arts from Swinburne University of Technology with majors in Journalism and Politics & International Relations, and completed the Victorian Certificate of Education at Warrnambool College.
