Robert Nelson is an accomplished academic and art critic with extensive experience in the fields of art and communication. Currently serving as Honorary Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne since November 2020, Robert also holds a longstanding position as an Art Critic for The Age since November 1995. Previously, Robert spent over three decades at Monash University, where responsibilities included Associate Dean of Art and Design and Associate Director of the Student Learning Experience until February 2019. Robert's academic foundation is solidified with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Art History from La Trobe University, earned between 1976 and 1988.
