Julian Hyde is an experienced software engineer and architect with a strong background in database technologies and data management systems. As the creator of Apache Calcite and a PMC member for several Apache projects including Arrow, Drill, Eagle, Incubator, and Kylin, Julian has significantly contributed to open source frameworks for database development. Previous roles include Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google, Architect at Looker and Hortonworks, and Lead Developer of the Mondrian OLAP engine, one of the most popular open source OLAP engines. Julian also held various technical leadership positions at companies such as SQLstream, Blue Martini, KANA Software, and Broadbase. Julian earned a BA in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge.
