John Drescher

John Drescher is an experienced journalist and editor with a background in leading news organizations and editing diverse content. Currently serving as a Contributing Editor at The Assembly since April 2021, Drescher previously held significant roles such as Deputy Politics Investigations/Enterprise Editor at The Washington Post and Opinion/Solutions Editor at The News & Observer. With a lengthy tenure at The News & Observer Publishing Company, Drescher progressed from Executive Editor to Managing Editor. Prior experience includes managing editorial roles at The State Newspaper and The Charlotte Observer. Drescher holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from UNC Chapel Hill and a Master's degree in Public Policy Analysis from Duke University.
