Evan Smith

Evan Smith serves as a Senior Advisor at Emerson Collective since January 2023 and has held multiple academic roles at The LBJ School of Public Affairs as a Professor of Practice and Instructor since January 2014. In addition to being a Trustee at the LBJ Foundation and a Contributing Writer for The Atlantic, Evan Smith hosts "Overheard with Evan Smith" and "Texas Monthly Talks" on Austin PBS, where involvement began in February 2003. Smith is a Board Member of the Austin Film Society and St. Stephen's Episcopal School and served as a Distinguished Fellow in Journalism at the University of Virginia from January 2023 to January 2024. As a co-founder of The Texas Tribune, Smith held roles as both Senior Advisor and Chief Executive Officer until December 2023. Education includes a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Hamilton College. In recognition of contributions to the film industry, Evan Smith was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in 2022.
