James Fallows

National Correspondent at The Atlantic

James Fallows is a distinguished writer and journalist, currently serving as Co-Founder and Writer at the Our Towns Civic Foundation since April 2021. In addition, James maintains a long-standing role as National Correspondent for Atlantic Monthly, a position held since January 1979. Previously, James served as Chief Speechwriter for President Jimmy Carter from 1976 to 1978. Educationally, James attended Harvard University, the University of Oxford, and Redlands High School.
