The Brain-Based Leader™ is a neuroscience education company founded by two PhD neuroscientists. We translate peer-reviewed research on sleep, stress, cognition, emotion, and empathy into practical frameworks that help leaders protect their decision-making capacity, regulate under pressure, and perform sustainably over time.

Our founders are the researchers. Jessica Payne, PhD is a full professor at the University of Notre Dame, director of the Sleep, Stress, and Memory Lab, and a Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences. Christine Payne, PhD completed her postdoctoral fellowship at NYU Langone Medical Center and has spent over a decade translating neuroscience for executive audiences. Together, they bring 40+ years of combined expertise across cognitive, affective, and social neuroscience.

We treat wellbeing as enabling infrastructure: the neurobiological foundation that makes leadership competencies actually achievable under real-world pressure. This is evidence-based education, not motivational content or popularized science.

Our flagship offering, The Neuroscience of Optimal Performance, is a licensable e-learning course (SCORM-compatible) with 4–6 hours of self-paced content across 50+ video lessons, self-assessments, branching scenarios, and pre-post assessments. Organizations can license the course standalone, pair it with a live keynote, build a blended program with expert workshops and quarterly Q&A, or customize according to your organizational needs.
