The Chirandu Group is building Indigenous Biotechnology into a defined scientific and commercial field.

Indigenous African ecological knowledge has long shaped flavour systems, nutrition practices and wellness traditions across the continent. When examined with scientific discipline and organised within structured data systems, this knowledge becomes capable of operating within regulatory frameworks, multinational formulation environments and cross-border supply chains without loss of provenance, attribution or technical precision.

We formalise that transition. Our work integrates heritage intelligence, laboratory characterisation and proprietary knowledge architecture to produce technically specified, traceable and reproducible assets that inform flavour development, functional nutrition and wellness innovation at source. Each body of knowledge is documented, validated and structured to support intellectual property development, regulatory alignment and sustained commercial deployment.

These assets shape ingredient portfolios, define research pipelines and inform long-horizon innovation strategies across flavour, nutrition and wellness markets while retaining governed attribution to originating communities and ecosystems. Indigenous Biotechnology is taking institutional form within global flavour, nutrition and wellness markets, and Chirandu’s work defines the technical and data foundations on which that participation rests.
