Bruce Freer

Bruce Freer is a self-employed Chartered Accountant (CA (SA), ACA) who specializes in consulting for SMEs on performance and profitability improvement initiatives. Their extensive prior experience includes leadership positions as Managing Director in various industries, including road cycling, residential property, and sports management, as well as extensive tenure at three of the Big Four accounting firms, where they served as a partner in KPMG Germany. Freer has held critical roles such as Management Committee Member at Truworths and has been involved in executive search within the professional services sector. Currently, they serve as the Chairman of the Audit Committee for the Commonwealth Secretariat, leveraging key skills in strategy advisory, performance improvement, and change management. Freer earned a BA LLB and a B Comm Hons in Tax from the University of Cape Town, along with qualifications from ICAEW and SAICA.
