John Down has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. John started their career at Ernst & Young in 2003 as an Audit Executive in the Technology, Communications, and Entertainment sector. In 2006, they had an internship at Fleming Family & Partners Private Equity, specializing in Tech & Digital Media. From 2007 to 2009, they worked at HBOS Australia as the Group Strategy - M&A. In 2009, they joined AMP, where they worked as an M&A and Strategy specialist until 2015. During this time, they also worked as a freelance consultant, providing services to clients like AMP, TheLoop.com.au, and other start-up ventures. John then moved on to The Dots Global in 2014, where they held the position of Chief Operating & Financial Officer, overseeing various functions such as Operations, People, Finance, Legal & Regs, and Governance, while also driving platform member growth.

John Down began their education at Eton College from 1992 to 1997. After completing their secondary education, they attended the University of Edinburgh from 1998 to 2002, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and graduated with an MA (Hons). In 2000, they had the opportunity to study at the University of California, Davis, on a scholarship exchange program for a year. Additionally, in 1998, they briefly studied at Université Paris-Sorbonne.
