We exist to provide healing and sanctuary for veterans and their families to ease the transition between military and civilian life. Our first effort is rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters, then rehabilitating and training them, and ultimately pairing them with Veterans and their families. Legitimate healing takes place on both ends of the leash through partnering these animals with the heroes who need them by increasing sense of purpose, worth, and dignity for both the animal and the veteran. As the canine companion arm grows, our vision is to build a calm sanctuary of healing for veterans and their families. Rather than wait until the bricks of trauma from combat start to weigh down the joy of homecoming, we plan to create a “space between” deployment and home. This will be a place a veteran and his or her family can meet on neutral ground, free from the realities and details that tend to slam into them as they return to civilian life.
